Robert Dale DeJong, 58 born February 14th 1962 went home to meet his lord and savior on June 7th 2020. The oldest of 2 children grow up on a farm in Martin Michigan. Bob married Denise Atwood in 1997 and had one son, and three step children that he raised as his own. He was a loving husband and father. Kind and humble and giving his time and talent Bob was a friend to everyone he met. He has a great sense of humor and a big heart. His pride and joy was his family and he was there whenever a need arose. He graduated from Martin high school and attended community College. Bob worked for Otsego Public schools in the transportation department from 1991 until is death. He had a gift for working with his hands and could fix anything. From vehicles to farm equipment or mechanical systems Bob loved a challenge and amazed many with his ability to figure out and fix the problem. Bob loved to work and enjoy spending time after work at his small farm tending the cows, baling hay and maintaining his rental properties. Family fun included time at the cottage, attending sporting events and trips up north. Ever ready to lend a helping hand Bob was quick to step in and help a family member, friend or stranger. He and his wife attended Radiant church in Richland, where they served as greeters and enjoyed hearing the word of God and fellowshipping with friends. Bob was proceeded in death by his father Robert DeJong and is survived by his wife Denise Atwood, children, Eric DeJong, Damian Atwood and wife Christina, Amanda Atwood, Adam Atwood and wife Ashley Atwood. Four grandchildren, Brittany, Gavin, Evan and Addison. Also surviving are his mother Mary DeJong and brother Ken DeJong and wife Kit. A memorial service is being planned and will be announced soon, as we are working around the current restrictions for gatherings. Gifts of love and remembrance should be donated to Wings of Hope Hospice, Allegan MI.
