Rita Eshuis

Rita Gay "Pat" Eshuis, age 84, of Redondo Beach, CA (formerly a long-time resident of Kalamazoo) passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017. Rita was born and raised in Paw Paw, MI and lived on Eagle Lake until completing high school. She attended a one room rural schoolhouse until graduating from Paw Paw High School. She then attended and graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in English and a focus on elementary education. She taught for over 25 years in the Kalamazoo Public Schools. She is preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Lucille. She is survived by her sister, Laverne, her two children, Penny and Eric (Gina) and four grandchildren, Emily, Max, Lulu and Franny. Her greatest passions in life were education (and making a difference in her students life), her love for her children and her love for animals. She had a special place in her heart for cats and saved and loved many over her lifetime. There will be a memorial service at the Esplanade in Redondo Beach, CA on September 10th.
