Rickey Jokela

Age 59, passed away suddenly January 4, 2018, at his residence in Portage. Rickey was born November 28, 1958 in Sturgis, MI, the son of Swante Jokela and Helen (Molnar) Jokela Chenery. A Kalamazoo area resident since 1963, he was employed with both Jacobson's and Kohl's Department Stores. Rickey loved cooking, music, movies, stained glass, and football, was a collector of "Hot Wheels" and most recently began making jewelry. Surviving are his siblings Sharon (Tom) Labadie, Carol Buckholz, Kathy Levine, Dennis Jokela, Ernie (Theresa) Chenery, Steven (Melissa) Chenery; many nieces, nephews, special friend Deanna Baugh and many other friends. His parents and a sister Donna Browne preceded him in death. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate Rickey's life will be held Saturday January 27, 2018 from 12 noon until 3 PM at Cornerstone Church (1809 Romence Rd) and another memorial graveside service will be held at a later date.
