Richard Simms, Jr.

Richard S. Simms, Jr. passed away Friday August 5, 2016, taken from us far too early at the age of 40. He was the first child of Richard S. and Jo Ann (Bailey) Simms, the beloved husband of Tamera Simms and the devoted father of Julian, Donivon, Adrian, Demitrius and D'Laylah. His greatest joy was working and playing with his children and nothing gave him more pleasure than providing for his family. A wake will be held Sunday, August 14, from 5 - 7 PM at the Whitley Memorial Funeral Home, 330 N. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo. A celebration of Ricky's cherished life will take place at 12 Noon Monday, August 15 at Christ Temple Church, 3498 N. 26th St., Kalamazoo. The family will recieve friends at the church prior to the service, during the Family Hour beginning at 11 AM. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery immediately following the service. A repast for family and close friends will be served at the Greater Open Door COGIC, 416 Phelps Ave., Kalamazoo, following burial. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Ricky to one's favorite charity, c/o the funeral home.
