Age 95, passed away July 17, 2018, in Phoenix, AZ. Richard was born in Chicago, IL and moved to Michigan at age 12. He was a 1940 graduate of Lawton High School and attended Western Michigan University, where he played basketball. Richard served in World War II as a LTJG aviator in the U.S. Navy. He was assigned to Naval Air Stations in Oklahoma, Florida and Hawaii, where he airlifted supplies to combat troops in the Pacific, and was the personal pilot for the Commander in Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Richard's careers included sales, farming, property development and retail store ownership. He is preceded in death by his wife Harriet, and a son, Richard. He is survived by three daughters, Jane(John) Hornick, Karen (Robert) Emmons, Patty(Joe) LaMere, seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. A private family service will be held at a later date.
