Richard “Rick” Lee Heller, age 64, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Ascension All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Cook County, Illinois, November 23, 1953, son of the late Jay and Lois (Nee: Cook) Heller.

On May 9, 1980 he was united in marriage to Therese E. Schiro. Rick was employed by the City of Racine as Chief Building Inspector for many years, retiring November 11, 2011. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed time spent hunting at his cabin in Chetek. Rick also enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and gambling trips to the casino. Rick’s grandchildren were his pride and joy and he cherished time spent with them.

Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Therese; his children, Krystyn (Collin) Hirsch, Rose (Joe) Grauwels, Jacob Heller (Sheila Bink); his grandchildren, Jackson, Cooper, Brooklyn Hirsch, Natalie Carbajal, Joseph Grauwels; canine shadow, Blossom; sister and brothers, Jayne (Dan) Exner, Jay (Kristal) Heller, Kurt Heller, David (Lisa) Heller; stepmother, Janet Heller; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Javier Guativa officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Lucy Capital Campaign or to the Veteran’s Tiny Houses have been suggested.
