Richard Peart

Richard W. Peart, age 78, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away on October 24, 2016 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Richard was born on October 17, 1938 in Iron Mountain, Michigan; the son of Benjamin and Marie Peart. Following high school graduation, Rich enlisted in the Army and served during the Bay of Pigs and Cuban Missile Crisis. After graduating from Western Michigan University, Rich was employed by Jewel Food Stores in Chicago, IL, Davenport, IA and Kalamazoo. He later purchased Rich's Shopping Center in Lawton which he ran until his retirement in the mid 1990's. In 2000 Rich and his partner, Mick built and managed Schnauzers Bar & Grille in Schoolcraft until their retirement in 2012. Richard is survived by his partner of 34 years, Michael Ciesielski; a sister, Gayle Mortl of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
