Died Monday morning September 19, 2016. Richard was born November 9, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan, a son of Michael and Grace Lindstrom. During WWII he served with the U.S. Army. Also served with the Michigan National Guard Company C. He was a Vice President of American National Bank from 1960 to 1971. He owned and operated Lindstrom Auto Sales and Rentals for 18 years before retiring to Venice, Florida in 1989. He enjoyed golf (achieving 2 holes-in-ones) and bowling, but his real love and passion was fast pitch softball, leading his Kalamazoo Cardinals to two State Championship titles. He built Lindstrom Field in Milwood. He was a "Life Member" of the Kalamazoo Elks No. 50. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael James Lindstrom. On May 15, 1969 he was united in marriage to Merida E. (Ames) Lindstrom who survives. Also surviving, 2 step children, Wendy Magnuson and Michael (Teresa) Weidemann all of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren, Lindsey Martin, Christopher Weidemann, Michael Weidemann, Jason Lindstrom and Rebecca Nieuwenhuis, all of Kalamazoo; 4 great grandchildren. Private services and burial will be held in Fort Custer National Cemetery on November 9, 2016 to commemorate his 95th Birthday. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to West Michigan Cancer Center, Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, WWII Museum (in New Orleans), Elks Major Project or a charity of your choice .
