Richard J. Bednar, age 82, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Ascension All Saints Hospital. Richard was born in Racine, August 8, 1934, son of the late Frank and Anna (Nee: Ottoman) Bednar.

On December 28, 1987 he was united in marriage to Margaret “Jean” Stone. Richard proudly served as Corporal in the United States Army. In his younger years he was employed on a truck farm and was last employed by Winkler Heating and Air Conditioning Company for twenty-two years, retiring in 1987. In his spare time he enjoyed working on automobiles. Above all he devoted and cherished time spent with his family.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of twenty-eight years, Jean; his children, Keith (Peggy) Bednar, Terri Riker; eleven loving grandchildren; great grandchildren; sister, Lorraine Stachow; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Patricia Bednar, Karen Nelson, Vandy Davis, Sarah Stone, Daniel Stone; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his children, Kim Bednar, Traci Murry, Kurt Bednar; brothers, Norman Bednar, Rodger Bednar, and Frank (Marleen) Bednar.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 6, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 11:00 A.M. Interment with full military honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
