Richard Glas

Richard Abram Glas, age 58, of Kalamazoo, MI was born on April 16, 1958 to Abram and Alida Glas in Kalamazoo, MI. He died at Bronson Hospital, surrounded by family, after a brief illness on September 7, 2016. He was united in marriage to Denise Zwart on May 12, 1978. He retired from working in the Pipefitting trade in May 2016 after 39 years. He enjoyed spending time with family, playing golf and watching Tiger's baseball. He lived for his weekly walk in the woods, where he experienced God and enjoyed His creation. Rick is survived by his wife of 38 years, Denise; his two children, Amanda (Joel) Vander Wal and Abram (Rachael) Glas; his four grandchildren, Samuel and Sybil Vander Wal, Abram and Evelyn Glas; his mother Alida Glas; his siblings, Ron Glas, Ken Glas, Karen (Tim) Leep, Steve (Diane) Glas, and Paul Glas; his sisters in-law, Linda (Tom) Vanden Berg and Barb (Arn) Woldhuis; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Abram Glas, in-laws Sidney and Agnes Zwart, and sisters in-law Pam Glas, Patty Glas, and Theresa Glas. Thank you to all the family and great friends for your care and love during this time and a special thank you to the staff at Bronson Hospital for your respectful care of our loved one. A memorial service will take place on Friday September 16, 2016 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes- Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009 at 11 am with Rev. Dar Vander Wal officiating. Visitation will take place prior to service at 10 am. A light luncheon will follow service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Kalamazoo Nature Center, 7000 N.
