Richard "Dick" W. Dernberger, age 74, of Bloomfield Hills Michigan, passed away on Tuesday April 21, 2015 in Holland Michigan from complications of cancer. Richard was born in Petoskey, Michigan on September 25, 1940.

He joins his wife Darla Dernberger who went to be with the Lord 13 years ago. He was also preceded in death by his brother Kurt Dernberger. He is survived by his 3 children, Rick (Becca), Rob (Dana), Renee, and seven grandchildren. Richard is also survived by his sister Phyllis (Dillon) Wright.

Richard was a bright person. He obtained his undergraduate and Masters degrees from the University of Michigan in 5 years, all while getting married and starting his family. After graduating from college, Richard entered the fledgling industry of computer science. His first job out of college was with Bell Labs, a think tank for AT&T.

Richard had a love of computers and enjoyed working with them. It was with mixed emotions that he accepted promotions to management level where he could no longer do the “hands on” computer programming that he cherished.

Richard was known for his positive attitude and compassion for anything living. In his younger years he enjoyed painting, model railroading, tennis, and golf.
