Richard M. Bresson, age 67, of Galesburg, MI passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 1, 2016 while enjoying one of his passions in life, the outdoors. Rick was born November 3, 1949, in Kalamazoo, Michigan the son of the late Milton and Thelma (Machin) Bresson. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident. On August 23, 1969, Rick married the love of his life, Karen (Cox). They were happily married for 47 years. They enjoyed many trips to Alaska and several exotic adventures including trips to Newfoundland, Mexico, and Africa. Rick started working at the Galesburg Hardware in 1969 and became the proud owner in 1987. He enjoyed running his family business with his son, Scott, in the heart of Galesburg. It was here that he established some great relationships with the community of Galesburg and surrounding communities. Rick enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and loved hunting with his sons and granddaughters. But most of all he loved spending time with his family. He loved his weekend time as it was usually spent with family at the lake. It was here that the family has created many beautiful memories. Surviving are his wife, Karen; his three sons, Scott Bresson of Galesburg, Bill (Laura) Bresson of Augusta, Matt Bresson (Greg Marvin) of Richland; his two granddaughters, Rieley and Morgan; his mother-in-law, Vonda Cox; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roger and Ron; and his father-in-law, John Cox. Rick will be sadly missed and forever loved by those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the Galesburg Boy Scouts Troop 265 at P.O. Box 398, Galesburg, MI 49053.
