Richard Lee Bishop, age 81, of Kentwood, MI peacefully entered the presence of his Heavenly Father on Monday, September 19, 2016. Richard is survived by his wife of 61 years, the love of his life, Marjorie Ann (Workman) Bishop. Richard kindly served many people during his career as an auto mechanic at Zandee's Service Station and as Director of Transportation for the Grand Rapids Christian Schools. Richard was a member of Fuller Avenue Christian Reformed Church for his entire life, serving there as a Cadet Leader, Deacon, and Elder. Richard frequently commented on how incredibly blessed he was by his family, especially when spending time together at the cottage. Richard is also survived by his children: Nancy (Larry) Stegink, Richard (Sandra) Bishop, and Sandra Bishop; his grandchildren: Ben (Anna) Stegink, Sara (Daryl) Huinink, Tim (Kaye) Stegink, Anna Stegink, Andrew (Trisha) Bishop, Kristi (Nick) Wysocki, and David (Rachel) Bishop; 10 great-grandchildren (with 2 more due in the next few weeks); a brother, James (Donna) Bishop; sisters-in-law: Leone Bishop, Arlene (James) Kettner, and Linda Kearns. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Jenevieve Bishop, his brother, Calvin Bishop, and a granddaughter, Rosemary Stegink. Funeral services will be Friday, Sept. 23, 11:00 am at Fuller Ave. Christian Reformed Church (1239 Fuller Ave. SE, Grand Rapids). Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 22, 5 to 8 pm at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel (2800 Burton St. SE, Grand Rapids) and Friday from 10 to 11 am prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions may be made to Grand Rapids Christian Schools or Fuller Ave. Christian Reformed Church.
