Rand Lee "Randy" Koetje of Augusta, MI Randy, age 64, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, December 12, 2018 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, MI following complications due to heart failure. Randy, the son of Jack Koetje and Maxine (Postma, Koetje) DeVrou, was born in Grand Rapids, MI on January 21, 1954 and was a 1972 graduate of Gull Lake High School. Beginning around the age of thirteen, Randy was assembling motorcycles for what became a family business in Kalamazoo; known as M&M Motormall. He continued with the company for over 45 years working in both the motorcycle and car division. He retired as the CEO of M&M Imports. Randy was a member of the Kalamazoo Dealers Association and had served as its President for a term. He was an adventurist who enjoyed being in the woods watching animals for hours, as well as an avid hunter and fisherman who loved boating, farming and driving anything with a motor (including becoming a helicopter pilot). His favorite time of year was deer camp with Dave, Chris and other hunting buddies. A lifetime member of the NRA, Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and The National Wild Turkey Federation. Randy was a fan of all forms of motorsport especially motorcycles and NASCAR. His family and friends will remember him as a man who stood out while remaining very humble, extremely honest, loyal and a giving man. A one of a kind husband, father, son and friend. Randy was united in marriage to Suzanne L. (Williams) Koetje in Kalamazoo on June 10, 1988 she survives Randy along with his son, Marlin L. Koetje of Augusta and his mother, Maxine DeVrou of Gull Lake. Also surviving are his aunt Eloise DeBoer, uncle Bill (Helen) Postma, cousins David (Jerry) DeBoer, Christopher (Shannon) DeBoer, Brenda (Mike) Olger and many close family members. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Jack in 2005 and step-father Marvin DeVrou in 2002. The Memorial Gathering to celebrate Randy's life will be held on Saturday December 29th from 11:00 to 2:00 at the Gull Lake Country Club, 9725 W. Gull Lake Drive, Richland, MI 49083. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Randy's honor may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans or the Wounded Warrior Project.
