Ralph Shepard Jr. of Saginaw, formerly of Reese and Frankenmuth died Thursday, September 11, 2014. He was born July 14, 1939 in Charlevoix the son of Ralph and Naomi (Carey) Shepard.

He was captain of football team at East Jordan High School as well as running Track in which he broke several records.

Ralph was the top Central Cadet from the Fort Riley ROTC summer camp. He then served as Captain in the United States Army with the 'Big Red 1' infantry during the Vietnam War, followed by two years of reserves.

Ralph retired from General Motors after 30 years; he worked in Production Control and Logistics.

Ralph spent his time enjoying all technology, especially Apple Products, Photography, Music collecting, Fishing, Boating and spending time with his Collies, Sheena and Kylie. Ralph collected and grew many varieties of roses, some very rare. With his wife, Michelle, he traveled to many beautiful places, their favorites being Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor both located in Maine. Ralph was also fortunate enough to visit many cities in Europe and Mexico while traveling for business.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Michelle; they were married on May 25, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth; children; David (Marilou), Michael (Constance), Elizabeth (Leisa); mother, Naomi; brother, Allan (Jackie), Lanny (Winifred), sisters; Phyllis (Douglas), Helen (Douglas); 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; father and mother-in-law, James Belanger (Mary); sisters and brothers in-law, Denise Monville (Joe) and Teresa Beiser (Ed).

He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Shepard, Sr.

A memorial service will be held 12 noon, Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the United Methodist Church, East Jordan, Michigan. Those wishing to make a donation, can make them to the ALS Association, 675 E. Big Beaver Rd. Troy, Michigan 48083. Please sign the guest book and share a message with his family.
