Phyllis Ann 'Marge' Anderson, 81 of Traverse City died Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions after a long battle with cancer.
She was born on March 29, 1932 in Pontiac, the daughter of Matthew and Hazel (Frick) Welton.
Marge enjoyed scrapbooking, crafts of all kinds and jigsaw puzzles. She loved flowers and worked as a floral designer, which she continued while at the Pavilions. She also enjoyed karaoke and had a beautiful singing voice.
She was a member of the Traverse Bay United Methodist Church and the Traverse City Fraternal Order of Eagles. Marge was a member and volunteer of the Traverse City Senior Center. She was a wonderful homemaker and raised four children.
Marge is survived by her children, Cynthia (Lauren) Vaughn of Interlochen, Anita (Daniel) Moran of Berkley, Douglas (Tina) Fortney of Mason and Thomas (Jon) Fortney of Hamtramck. Her grandchildren are Julie, Holly, Katie, Zachary, Elizabeth, John, Mark, Stephen and great-granddaughter, Elsie. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas (Gail) Carr and sisters, Edna, Bernice and Helen.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dale R. Anderson. They were married on December 9, 1983 and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2007.
Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 18 at 11:00 a.m. at the Traverse Bay United Methodist Church with Rev. Jane Lippert officiating. The family will greet family and friends starting at 9:30 a.m.
The family would like offer a special thank you to the staff at the Grand Traverse Pavilions, Munson Hospice and Munson Medical Center for their skilled and compassionate care.
