Phyllis Goebel LaFleur (fondly known as Gramma Snazzy, and Tiny), age 106, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Lakeshore Manor. Phyllis was born in Racine, October 13, 1909, daughter of the late Pasquel and Emilia (Nee: Albino) Bruno and was a lifelong resident of Racine.

Phyllis attended Sacred Heart Grade School, Lincoln Grade School, McKinley Junior High School and Racine High School. In January of 1931 she was united in marriage to Edward Joseph Goebel who preceded her in death, June 2, 1944. In 1949 she married Fredrick “Freddy” LaFleur who preceded her in death in 1969. In her earlier years she was employed at Western Publishing, Zayre’s, Nelson Brothers and Strom, and John’s Knobby Lobby. She along with her husband Edward also owned and operated 2 taverns, Goebel Potato Chips, and 2 Drive-In hamburger stands. Phyllis was a longtime active member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was an exceptional artist, she created many beautiful water color, oil portraits and landscapes. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, interior decorating, and traveling. Phyllis's greatest joy was time spent with her family.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Edward Goebel, Douglas (Pat) Goebel, all of Racine; her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Rick) Capponi, Susan Goebel, Cheri (George) Yust, Lori Patrick; her seven great-grandchildren, Joey Capponi, Lexi Capponi, Josh Capponi, George Yust, Marie Yust, Natasha Wick, Courtney Wick; Sister-In-Law Margaret Bruno; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Angeline Goebel; five brothers, Al (Florence) Bruno, Victor (Rose) Bruno, Louie (Arlene) Bruno, Bob (Margaret) Bruno, Larry (Carol) Bruno; and sister, Eleanor “Sis” (Charles) Stalmok.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 3, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 4701 Erie St. with Rev. Dustin Fecht officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church, 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Phyllis’s caregivers on the 4th floor at Lakeshore Manor, and Dr. Mark DeCheck for their loving and compassionate care.
