Phillip Riggins

Phillip James Riggins, age 64, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. Phillip was born in Grand Rapids on July 21, 1952, the son of Eugene and Lucille M. (Fairbairn) Riggins. He worked as a truck driver for Johnson Howard Lumber Company and Oak Creations. He later was employed as a bus driver for Vicksburg Public Schools. He enjoyed bowling and softball. He also liked fishing and being in the outdoors, especially spending time around the campfire. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Janet (Doorlag) Riggins; four children, Michael (Kim) Richardson of Vicksburg, Jennifer (Brian) Hayward of Mendon, Wendy (Derek) Bucknell of Kalamazoo and Angela (Tom) Leonard of Oshtemo; eight grandchildren, Justin (Cassondra), Paige, Aubrey, Tyler, Jacob, Joshua, Derek and Kyle; one great-granddaughter expected soon; his parents, Eugene and Lucille Riggins of Kalamazoo; two sisters, Jeanne Prescott of Kalamazoo and Kim (Phil) Mansfield of Kalamazoo; a sister-in-law, Lillian Riggins. Phillip was preceded in death by his brother, Peter Riggins; and brother-in-law, Bob Prescott. Friends may visit with the family from 4 8 p.m. on Thursday, November 17th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. The funeral service will be held in the funeral chapel at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 18th, with Pastor Brian Lutz officiating. Interment will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 19th in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
