Phillip Knapp

Phillip C. Knapp, age 78, of Lawton, MI passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 27, 2016 at his home with his family at his side. Phil was born November 9, 1937 in Hanover, MI the son of the late Alton and Helen (Turner) Knapp. Phil was a person who "never met a stranger" was very active in the community. He was a member of the Grape and Wine Festival Committee for many years, Charter member and Past Exalted Ruler ( 1977 & 1979) of the Allegan-Paw Paw Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge # 1621, Paw Paw, Past District Exalted Ruler, and Charter Member of the Paw Paw Eagles Aerie # 4310. Phil loved playing golf and was employed by Heritage Glen in Paw Paw and for the Kalamazoo Country Club for 16 years. Blessed with 56 years of marriage, Phil was united in marriage to Betty Houts on July 2, 1960 in Three Rivers, who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Lori (Richard) Green of Valpariso, IN, Rena (Toby) Fields of Lawton and Jodie (Tom) Cousins of Vicksburg; grandchildren, Morgan, Brian and Rebecca Green of Valpariso, IN, Tobias Jessica) Fields of Wyoming, MI, Kasi (Taylor) Meyer of Wyoming, MI and Jordan (Kayla Munch) Fields of Kalamazoo, Ross (Katie) Cousins of Mishawaka, IN; brother, Edward A. Knapp of Vicksburg, two sisters, Barbara (John) Lamont of Tuscon, Az and Michelle (Mark) Harman of Louisville, KY; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Saturday, October 8, 2016, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions: plant a tree or donations to Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
