Obituary
Philip Thomas Warner, age 63, died at home surrounded by his family on September 14, 2011. He was born August 11, 1948, in Sault Ste. Marie, the son of Dwayne Earl and Jean (Monroe) Warner. Phil graduated from Sault Ste. Marie High School in 1966 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge, Phil attended Lake Superior State University and then began working for the U.S. Postal Service in Sault Ste. Marie and transferred to the Holland area and later Grand Rapids. After over 30 years, he retired from the post office in 2004.
On July 24, 2004, Phil married Mary ( Martin) Bouwman. He was a gifted carpenter and built many things around their home. He also built the windmill that has been standing for many years in front of the Holland Post Office.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Warner of Fennville; his son, Joshua Dwayne Warner of Big Rapids; his stepsons, Bryan Bouwman, Tracey Bouwman and Mitchel Bouwman, all of Fennville; three grandchildren; his sister, Sally and Bill Moher; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Scott Warner.
A graveside service with military honors will be Saturday, September 24, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. at Manlius Cemetery with Pastor Dennis Myers officiating.
