Vermeulen, Paul D. 9/22/1942 - 3/9/2017 Kalamazoo Age 74, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 9, 2017. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI, on September 22, 1942, the son of the late Donald and Ann (Boelman) Vermeulen. Paul was a kind, intelligent and loving man who had a strong faith in the Lord and a passion for family and friends. He gave freely of his time and was deeply involved with helping children at Camp Michawana. Paul was also a volunteer at the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission and Angel Tree. He was a hard worker who retired from the Upjohn-Pfizer Company after more than forty years. Paul loved his family and did his very best to provide for them. He was always involved in what his children and grandchildren were doing and leaves them with many wonderful memories to cherish; he was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. On December 6, 1962, he married his loving wife Scharlene Vermeulen who survives. Paul is also survived by three children, Geoff (Bonnie) Vermeulen, Mark (Kristin) Vermeulen and Kelley (Chad) Booden; eight grandchildren, Katie, Tyler, Emily, Sara, Audrey Vermeulen, Shelby (Dakota Blodgett) Booden, Kenedie, Carter Booden; cousins, relatives and friends. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service to celebrate Paul's life will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, beginning at 2:00 PM with a visitation one hour prior to the service, at Calvary Bible Church, 855 S Drake Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, with K. Norm Copeland officiating. Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Michawana, Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, Calvary Bible Church (Angel Tree Fund), c/o the funeral home.
