Paul Robbins

Paul R. Robbins, age 73, of Augusta, MI died Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at his home. Paul the son of Dallas H. and Emma J. (Handy) Robbins, was born in Crawford, TN. He retired from Hydreco. He loved the Barn Theatre and the Ragotzy family. He housed many "Barnies" for decades - including Tom Wopat. Paul was known for his storytelling in his smooth southern voice. He knew and was known by everyone in Augusta. While sitting on his porch swing he would offer to "come and sit a spell" to passers-by. He loved his family and had a special place in his heart for his sister Mary Thompson and his nephews Joe Garrett & Ricky Robbins. Paul was a family historian. He knew everything about everyone whether it was birthdays, anniversaries or just what the family was up to. He was someone who would remember to call & wish you happy birthday or just give you words of wisdom & encouragement. He had many dear friends. Paul could always be counted on to help with the needs of others whether being a caretaker of a neighbor's home or caring for family and friends. Surviving are his two brothers James (Judith) Robbins, of Augusta, Herman Robbins of Livingston, TN, his sister Mary (Robert) Thompson of Moorehead, KY and many nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Lois Woodall, Bernice Garrett, Betty Richfield and Treva Rhoads, and a brother, Jackie Robbins. Funeral services to celebrate Paul's life will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Augusta Fellowship United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Augusta Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 20 at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Augusta Chapel from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Barn Theatre School for Advanced Theatre, 13352 M-96, Augusta, MI 49012.
