Died Wednesday afternoon August 22, 2018 at his residence, Dr. Paul was born December 10, 1941 in Royal Oak, Michigan; the son of Paul and Leone (Judson) Fierke. On June 24, 1967, Dr. Paul was united in marriage to Helen M. (Meissner) Fierke who survives. During the Vietnam War, he served with the U.S. Navy. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1971 and owned and operated his medical practice for over 30 years. Before retiring, Dr. Paul also worked for the Joint Commission, reviewing and accrediting hospitals for over 16 years. Dr. Paul was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served and where Helen was the Director of Music. He was preceded in death by his parents, but is survived by Helen and their 2 sons, Charles (Dawn) Fierke and Peter (Amber) Fierke all of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren: Nathaniel, Matthew, Allison, David and Drew; and a cousin, Jim Judson of Ann Arbor. Services will be held 11 o'clock Saturday August 25, at Zion Lutheran Church, 2122 Bronson Blvd. Visitation will be 6-8pm Friday the 24th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St. Private graveside services will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church Music Fund.
