Wirick, Patricia "Pat" LEXINGTON Pat Wirick's life offered a sanctuary of beauty in an otherwise unlovely world. With an artist's ability to transform light and color, form and texture, mass and line, she dipped her brush into paint and allowed others to feel what she saw. Pat's world was one of loveliness and creativity - where neither could run out - the more she used, the more she had. Pat passed away Sunday, August 16, 2020 in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. She was 82 (though she wouldn't have you believe she was a day over 50!) Born Patricia A. Kirshman on May 31, 1938 in Kalamazoo, MI to Leroy H. and Glenna C. (Sebring) Kirshman, she was graduated from Central High School (Kalamazoo). In the 1960s she worked as a colorist for five professional photographers - a talent all but forgotten in the digital age - and knew her way around a photo re-touching machine. In 1969 she earned Michigan Colorist of the Year for her work in the medium. It was later that year she moved to Lexington. A gifted painter, Pat was represented by Watercolors of Columbus, which became a gateway to many corporate and municipal commissions, including the lobby of the Sprint headquarters in Mansfield. She restored public murals in Kenton and created murals at Columbus Children's Hospital. Her lifetime of artistic work included illustrating three medical books, as well as personal works and those donated to charity and gifts. Her art was an extension of her beautiful creativity. For the past 40 years, Pat worked as the office manager at Lakewood Racquet Club in Lexington. An accomplished tennis player - she played world team tennis, and won the Mansfield News Journal Tournament - she loved the sport and cherished her dear friend and work associate Ron Schaub. Pat will be remembered as a lovely woman - a beautiful woman - with an outgoing personality, dedicated to creating beauty, and dedicated to her husband Gene. She is survived by her children Katherine (David) Kurtz of New Washington, Karl (Lori) Kent of Lancaster, and Kara Calendine of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Brian (Meghan) Bacin, Alex Kurtz, Kyle (Natalie) Kent, Kelly (Ben) Kyser, Kip (Tina) Calendine, Quinn, Zane and Gage Calendine; five great grandchildren; brothers Bill (Corrie) Kirshman of Kalamazoo, MI, and Bob (Jackie) Kirshman of Augusta,MI; a sister-in-law Debbie Kirshman of Detroit, MI, step children Richard (Deborah) Wirick of Santa Monica, CA, Jane (Paul) Drake of Richardson, TX, and Jennifer Breitinger of Minneapolis, MN; step grandchildren Evan, Maya, and Amelia Wirick, Taylor, Ellen (Luis Guzman), and Madeline Drake, and Eva Breitinger, a step great-granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of dear and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years Gene A. Wirick on January 14, 2020. Also deceased are her son-in-law Steve Calendine; brothers Ronald (Rae) Kirshman, and John Kirshman and a sister Sally Jo Yanko. Visitation was held Thursday, August 27, 2020 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. Her funeral service was held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Celebrant Jerry Wilson spoke. Burial followed in Lexington Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Richland County Humane Society.
