Patricia Whittaker

Patricia R. "Pat" Patricia Whittaker of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Friday, December 1, 2017 at the age of 84 with family by her side. Pat was born May 29, 1933 in Detroit, MI, daughter of the late H. Theodore and Kathryn (Brown) Richter. A graduate of Albion College, she earned her Master's Degree from Western Michigan University. She was a guidance counselor and teacher in Pennfield High School in Battle Creek for 36 years and touched many lives throughout those years. She was an avid and skillful golfer and bowler, winning several league titles. She was also active in the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority Alumni Group and the Kalamazoo Area Retired School Personnel Group. Surviving Pat are her children, Candy (John) Spears and Ted (Jenny) Whittaker; and one granddaughter, Kelsey Whittaker. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, December 6th from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 7th at 1:00pm. In honor of her wishes, cremation will follow the service and a private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kalamazoo Senior Services or to the American Cancer Society.
