Patricia Morse

Patricia “Pat” Ann Bryan Morse died peacefully at home on December 12, 2018 at the age of 87 after an incredibly full life. She was born November 20, 1931 in Flint Michigan to Margaret and William “Mac” Bryan. Pat attended St. Mary’s elementary school in Mount Morris Michigan. The family moved to Lake Ann, Michigan in 1946 where her grandmother lived and her mother had previously taught school. Pat graduated from St. Francis High School in 1952. Pat married the love of her life, James Morse, in 1954 at the old St. Francis church on 10th St. For 61 years she and Jim have resided in the village of Lake Ann in the house Jim and his brother, Bill, built. Their close friends here are too numerous to count. Pat and Jim raised five children in Lake Ann who attended both Benzie and Grand Traverse Area Catholic schools. All their children and spouses still live close and she has enjoyed nearly daily visits from many of them for years allowing her to stay closely involved in all of their lives. Pat rarely missed an opportunity to celebrate or encourage. She enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, and especially cherished her role as grandmother and great grandmother.

Pat loved to play cards, was a skilled poker player, and is known at all the local casinos. Pat was often recognized and remembered as the friendly, smiling face of Prevo’s market on eighth street, where she worked for 24 years. She and Jim have traveled extensively, including the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Las Vegas, British Isles, and numerous European trips. They have spent the last 24 years as snowbirds in Fort Myers and Zephyrhills, Florida where they have a large community of dedicated friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Mac, stepmother Elsie, siblings James, Marie, Chuck, and stepsiblings Grace, Bill and Elmer. Pat is survived by her husband James Morse Sr., sons James (Debi) Morse Jr., John (Ruthann) Morse, Jeffrey (Cheryl) Morse, Jay (Kim) Morse, all of Lake Ann and daughter Jeanine (Dan) Michalski of Elk Rapids, Michigan. Brother‘s Louis Bryan of Clio, Michigan, brother Larry (Dorothy) Bryan of Lake Ann, sister Catherine Morio of Traverse City, 13 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren , and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice’s skilled staff for their unending compassion and attention over these last few months. Thank you, also, to Munson Medical Center and the Cowell Family Cancer Center for the love and care shown to all. Funeral will be held at Saint Francis Church in Traverse City on Monday, December 17 at 11 AM. The family will greet friends starting at 10 AM.
