Nee: Williams

Appleton - formerly of Racine

Patricia Ferard Williams Ewing, age 87, passed away October 10, 2015. She was born in Warren, Ohio on March 4, 1928, the daughter of the late Paul and Vada (nee Thomas) Williams.

Patricia received her B.A. in History from the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, where she graduated with honors in 1951. She went on to receive a Certificate in Library Science from Dominican College. On April 2, 1947 she married Guy R. Ewing Jr., who preceded her in death May 12, 2009. Together they resided in Racine for 44 years from 1963 until moving to Appleton, Wisconsin in 2007.

Patricia was employed by the Racine Unified School District as an Elementary School Librarian. In Racine she was an active member and Elder of the First Presbyterian Church. She sang in the church choir, served on various committees, taught Sunday School, and was instrumental in setting up the Resource Center at the Presbytery of Milwaukee Offices. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Lincoln Fellowship. She was an avid reader who loved history, travel and classical music, and enjoyed singing. In addition to singing in the church choir, she sang with the Racine Symphonic Chorus and at the Berkshire Choral Festival in Massachusetts. Patricia was also active with the PTA, the Girl Scouts and the Boy Scouts. Above all, she treasured most the time spent with her family, friends, and beloved cats through the years. She will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her sons, Pastor David F. Ewing (Kathi) of Beloit WI and Malcolm S. Ewing of Washington DC; and her daughters Susan E. Kyle (William) of Louisville KY, Jennifer H. Orr (Richard) of Appleton WI, and Kathryn N. Ewing of Appleton WI; her 10 grandchildren: Sean M.G. Malin (Shelby), Teresa L. Van Handel, Margot A. Orr, Robert D. Orr, Charlotte A. Orr, Matthew P. Ewing (Macy), Jeffrey D. Ewing, Anna E. Ewing, Raymond G. Kyle and Brittany L. Kyle; 5 great grandchildren: Justin S. Malin (Tiffany), Michael Steidtman (Jenni), Layla Kanazeh, Milo Kanazeh and Samuel Michael Guy Malin; and 2 great great grandchildren: Madalynn Malin and Mason Malin.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 716 College Avenue, Racine WI with Reverends Gillian Weighton and Steven C. Fringer officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday October 13, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Maresh-Meredith & Acklam Funeral Home and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be given to the First Presbyterian Church in Patricia’s memory.

The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Appleton Retirement Community, Emerald Valley Assisted Living, Appleton Medical Center, and Thedacare Cherry Meadows Hospice for their compassionate care.
