Patricia (Patti) Ann Carter, age 83, passed away on October 9, 2016, in Sarasota, FL. Patti was born March 17, 1933, in Muskegon, MI. Patti was a proud graduate of Michigan State University and earned her Masters' degree at Western Michigan University. Patti was a devoted wife, loving mother, teacher, coach, and dear friend to all who knew her. She spent a career teaching and coaching children in Michigan. She was passionate about golf, with more than 30 club championships to her credit between Michigan and Florida. She supported women's sports throughout her life. Patti loved to compete and she loved to win, but never without fair play and at all times with grace. She was an ardent MSU Spartan fan, and shared that passion with all who knew her. Patti's connection with us was through her eyes, her smile, and her hands. When Patti spoke to you, you always felt all three, and you knew she cared. We will miss her dearly, and will remember her always. She is survived by her spouse, Lloyd W. Carter; two children, Jill Travis (Alan); Jon Anderson (Kate); a grandson, Will Anderson; two sisters, Shirley Wittenbrink and Sandra Donovan, and their families; and three of Lloyd's children and their families. A private celebration of Patti's life will be held at Bent Tree Golf Club, Sarasota, from 2:00-5:00 PM on October 22nd. Special remembrances will be shared at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Patti's name to your favorite charity or to her local First Tee organization: The First Tee of Sarasota-Manatee 8586 Potter Park Drive Sarasota, FL 34238 Phone: (941) 993-0046 ATTN: LEXI
