Orval Rich

Orval L. Rich, age 88, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away early Thursday morning, Dec. 1, 2016 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. He was born on April 9, 1928 in Winnebago, NE, one of twelve children to William and Mary (Bowman) Rich. Orval was a veteran of the United States Army. On March 20, 1948, Orval married Julia (Homoki) Rich, until her passing on April 14, 2002. On November 23, 2002, he married Shirley (Hurley) Spencer Rich, who survives. Also surviving are his six children, Linda (Jim) Ringler, Larry (Barb) Rich, Gary Rich, Julene (Tom) Burlington, Duane (Kim) Rich and Shirleen (Norbert Draper) Russell; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; five step-children, Doug (Diana) Spencer, Steve (Leslie) Spencer, Ted (Susie) Spencer, Jeff (Kristen) Spencer and Susan (Kent) Downing; ten step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Myrna Jones and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate Orval's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, Dec. 2, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, where friends may visit with the family from 1:00 PM until the time of service. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
