Age 85 of Kalamazoo, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019 at Fairview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Centreville. He was born in Kalamazoo on July 21, 1933 the son of the late Alfred and Hallie (Alexander) Snyder and has been a lifetime resident of the Kalamazoo area. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and later in life earned an Associate's Degree from Kalamazoo Valley Community College. He was an electrical engineer for the former Michigan Autotest in Comstock. Norman was a self-employed "Mr. Fix-It" and took great pride in being able to engineer a repair for almost anything. He looked forward to Spring clean-up events, because it allowed him to pick for needed parts for a work in progress. Norman taught himself to play several musical instruments, and was a very talented artistic painter winning several awards at local art shows. He was a strong and faithful servant of the Lord, and most recently attended the Centreville Baptist Church. Norman's favorite bible verse was Philippians 1:6 "Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ." Norman was married to Frances A. (Sherman) Meacham in 2001 in Kalamazoo. She survives along with a step-son, Bryant Meacham of Kalamazoo; a brother, Harvey Snyder of Kalamazoo; his in-laws, Gary (Gwen) Sherman, Darlene Denney, Terry (Kitty) Sherman, and Heather Hill; several nieces and nephews. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon with Rev. David Peterson, Pastor of the Centreville Baptist Church officiating. A private interment will take place later. It is suggested that memorials be directed to either the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, or to the Centreville Baptist Church. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www. eickhofffuneralhome.com
