Nickey Lucas

Nickey "Nick" Lucas, 63, of Parkview Adult Care Home in Zeeland, passed away Thursday July 23, 2015.

Born February 12, 1952, in Holland, Nick was the second of three children of Nelson and Maxine Lucas, both whom he missed very much since they preceded him in death.

Nick attended the Ottawa Area Center during his younger years and for the last 37 years of his life he has been a resident of the Parkview Adult Care Home in Zeeland and was an employee of Kandu Industries.

Nick is survived by his brother, Gary and Denise Lucas; sister, Yvonne Ketchum; nieces, Jodi and AJ Merren, Samantha and Mike Daniels, Suzanne and Matthew Wolters; and nephew, David and Allison Lucas.

Everyone who came to know Nick appreciated his sense of humor, overwhelming kindness, and his unconditional love for others. Nick became an immediate friend to those he met and had a way of helping them appreciate the blessings of life. His true joy in life came from interacting with people while riding his three-wheeled bike around Zeeland, bowling on Friday nights, and enjoying activities with the Parkview residents. His interests included collecting stuffed animals, which he often gave away to others, showing people the four watches he wore, and writing notes to all his friends. Nickey was a true Christian believer in every sense and in his own words told others, "Jesus will take me to see mom and dad".

Visitation will be Saturday August 8, 2015 from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Community Reformed Church on 10376 Felch Street, Zeeland. The Funeral Service will follow with Reverend Greg Tenbrink officiating.
