Nancy Schoonmaker

Nancy Schoonmaker, age 90, of Paw Paw, MI in an early morning hour on September 22, 2017, joined hands with Jesus and was welcomed into her heavenly home. Nancy was born on March 25, 1927 in Flat Rock, Michigan. She often shared vivid memories of her childhood days spent both in Michigan and West Virginia. She met her husband Ron and they went on to raise their family in the Paw Paw, Michigan area. Their children and spouses are: Beth and Rick, Julie, Ron, and Nan and Mike. Grandchildren Carrie, Mark, Laura, Nate, Beth and Annie gave Grandma Nancy a chance to do some of her favorite activities hold babies, sew doll clothes and host overnight visits. Later, great-grandchildren arrived: Adrian, Asher, Cael, Carter, Nola, Mae, Grey, Kate, Zane, Jake, Otto, Flora and Wade. Great Grandma Nancy made good use of family visits by more baby-holding, listening to family conversations, and taking charge in the kitchen. Mom's final years were filled with everyday doings. She kept busy with home chores, enjoyed the beauty of God's creation and participated in the gatherings of her family. Time spent with her best friend Evelyn was precious to her. She joined in worship with her New Hope Fellowship family in Paw Paw. Thank you to the Thursday afternoon Paw Paw Arby's employees for their attention and kindness during Nancy and Evelyn's weekly Arby's outings and to the Wings Hope home in Allegan for their care and love in Nancy's final days. A private family gathering is being planned. As Nancy loved to say, "See ya later, alligator. After while, crocodile."
