On Saturday, August 17th, Nancy entered eternity to be welcomed by Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Following High School graduation, she entered the University of Michigan to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. In September of her sophomore year, she met her husband-to-be, Tom, on a blind date. They were married in July, 1961 and lived on Long Island for 5 years. During that time two children, Kathy and David were born. She then moved with her family to Mahopac, NY and spent the next 50 years in a house they had built. Nancy worked as a nurse in several hospitals, ending at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel, NY. She left nursing to help raise her family. Daughter Deborah Lee was born in 1980 while another son, Stephen John, went to be with the Lord shortly after birth. Nancy was an active member of The Mission Church in Holmes, NY, working in the children's ministry, women's ministry (serving as leader for several years), teaching a marriage course with her husband, and giving pre-marriage mentoring also with her husband. In her later years Nancy volunteered in Putnam Hospital Center in ASU for 18 years and as a Hospice volunteer for many years. Nancy was described by friends as a caring, generous, always positive and willing to spend time with you whenever you had a special need or concern. She thoroughly enjoyed one-on-one relationships. Above all, Nancy was a devoted wife, pouring love and spiritual education into her children, enjoying her relationship with all her 7 grandchildren, giving each of them a special biblical verse to match their personalities. She is survived by her husband, Tom, her children: Kathy, Deborah Lee (Paul), David (Laura) and her grandchildren, Joshua, Gabriel, Stephen, Andrew, Daniel, Sarah and Ethan. A memorial service will be held at the Mission Church on Saturday, August 24th at 11 A.M. If desired, memorial donations may be sent to Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC, 28607-3000.
