Nancy Martin

Martin, Nancy C. Nancy C. Martin, 89, passed away Tuesday evening, January 30, 2018. She was born May 6, 1928 to the late Nathan and Rachel (Diehl) Christman. Nancy was united in marriage to Manfred R. Martin on March 22, 1952. While still at home as a teenager, she worked in a shoe repair shop. This led to a life of using her hands to knit, make walnut shell ornaments, etc. She attended WMU graduating as an Occupational Therapist. After a career of teaching children at Ann J. Kellogg School in retirement she enjoyed many trips in her motor home and around the world. Rotary was a part of her life as well as Habitat for Humanity in Mexico and South Texas. For the past 12 years she lived at Wyndham Apartments where she continued to enjoy gardening and knitting mittens for children and tea cozies for many residents. Nancy leaves behind her husband, Manfred R. Martin; children, M. Wesley (Aurora) Martin and Randy (Otilia) Martin; 7 grandchildren, M. Dashiell, Chani, Tristyn, Kiana, John (Amanda), April and Eric; 1 great grandchild, Christian; brother, Roger Christman; and several nieces and nephews. Nancy was also preceded in death by her brother, Harvey Christman. A memorial service will take place on Monday, February 5th, 1:00 at Wyndham Apartments, 2300 Portage St., Kalamazoo, MI 49001. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes. Inurnment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
