Passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 of congestive heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Moira was born September 2, 1934 in Edinburgh Scotland to Thomas and Elizabeth Leticia (Anderson) Laird. Upon finishing school, she arrived in the U.S. by way of H.M.S. Queen Elizabeth at age 17 in 1951, and joined her sisters Leticia (Laird) Wells and Margaret (Laird) Berthiaume in Battle creek Michigan. Moira became a legal permanent resident in October 1951. She remained a citizen of the United Kingdom her entire life and often said "I was born a Scot, and I will die a Scot." She passed away with family at her side in Tucson AZ as a result of heart failure and complications. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew Joseph Wedl Jr in October 1964, her second husband William Arthur Valenzuela in April 2001. Also preceding her departure were two sons; Lance Charles in 2010, and Mark Edward in 2016. Moira is survived by her sister Margaret, brothers in law Charles and Johnny (Wedl), daughters Marie and Melanie, sons Andrew, David and Ian and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grand children. Moira will be laid to rest with her late husband William Arthur on June 12, 2019 at 1:30p.m., at the Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta Michigan where a graveside burial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, Moira would prefer that donations be made to cancer charities. Moira enjoyed visits with family, travelling about the country in the RV, doing genealogical research and sightseeing, tea and biscuits (cookies), back home sweeties, music from the 40's 50's and 60's, bagpipe music, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, reading, crossword puzzles, her flowering cacti, watching hummingbirds and people, Scottish country dancing and a host of other things. She made friends anywhere and everywhere.
