Millicent "Millie" Joyce (Milburn) Owen, 89 of Richland, Michigan went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, December 23, 2020. She died peacefully in her home with her family by her side. Born January 16, 1931, to Warrel and Mary Annice Milburn, Millie graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1948 and went on to study early childhood education and music at Western Michigan University, graduating in 1952. She was united in marriage to her college sweetheart, Donald Owen, on August 26, 1951 and celebrated 65 years of marriage before his passing on November 1, 2016. Millie taught kindergarten at Richland Elementary in the Gull Lake School System for 26 years and was beloved by students, parents, and teachers alike. She was also an army wife, mother of four, an accomplished pianist, homemaker, quilter, seamstress, card maker, crafter, gardener, cook, and baker. Millie will be remembered as a loyal and giving wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, but most of all by her children as the matriarch and heart of her family.

Millicent is survived by sons: David Owen of Seattle, WA, Thomas Owen of Richland, MI, and Stephen Owen of Portage, MI; daughter, Katherine (Jeffrey) Bright of Portage, MI; and two grandchildren: Lauren (Casey) Lamb of Jersey City, NJ, and Jordan Bright of Golden, CO. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Alice Puhala.

Cremation has taken place and she will be buried with her husband at Fort Custer National Cemetery. A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date.
