Life Story / Obituary

Mildred “Milly” Francis Goss, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015. She was born March 9, 1925 to Frank and Vincenta Romanowski. After her mother’s passing in 1928 she was raised by her brothers, Frank, Jay, Leo and Sydney, and her loving sister, Lillian, who have all preceded her in death.

She graduated from East Jackson High School and attended Jackson School of Business.

She worked as a secretary at the Aeroquip Corporation.

Mildred married her husband, Edward, in 1950. She spent her life as a devoted wife and mother to him and their five children.

She was an avid bowler and enjoyed sewing and cooking, especially traditional Polish meals for family, all who knew her as “Ma” or “Granny.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Ron Johnson), Monica Dillon, Lorraine (Tom Brown) and Kim (Jeff Schwartz); son, Shawn (Diane); and grandchildren, Lindsey Goss-Maurisak (Brandon), Alison Goss, Kasey Goss, Keith Schwartz, Kendall Schwartz, Adrienne Brown Reasner (Lynnelle), Tony Brown (Allison), Dana Johnson, Lisa Johnson and Cherlin Johnson Kirby (Ian); great-grandchildren, Kate and Claire Kirby; and several nieces and nephews.

An informal gathering will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015 at the Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City.

In lieu of flowers, donations to American Heart Association or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
