Michael Kinnisten

Paul Michael Paul Kinnisten, 81, passed away January 6, 2023 at our home receiving love, great comfort, and care. Not to forget the daily shared respect, encouragement, appreciation, fears, strength, hope, laughter, family memories and prayers. Michael was born March 31, 1941, the son of Edward and Dorothy (Knackstadt) Kinnisten in Oak Park, Illinois, stretching his legs prior to twin brother David's arrival. Michael was a proud and private man. He graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management and began his career at Reynold's Metals in Richland, Virginia. In 1972, he joined Proudfoot Consulting, and served as Executive VP Management Consultant for 33 years. In 2005, he joined The Brooks Group, Brooks International, as Executive VP Management Consultant for 5 years. Success and expertise brought the demand of worldwide business travel. There was an abundance of stories told about the countless number of countries travelled, people met, and experiences not to forget. An especially proud achievement at age 15, Michael became an Eagle Scout and continued mentoring fellow Scouts. Throughout the years he enjoyed sailing, swimming, bicycling, and sports cars. An avid reader, Michael finished 5 books a week plus magazines and was quick to share facts and fiction at a moment's notice. A most recent achievement was his 2022 O.S.K.A. promotion to SANCHIN-RYU SENSEI Certified Instructor. Michael was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Cruciano Fanaro. Michael is survived by his wife, Kathleen; daughter, Jennifer Merryweather (Tom); stepdaughters, Kristen Woodard (Steve), Kara Harmsen, and Michelle Fanaro (Ken); grandchildren, Joey Gahan, Ryne Socha, Kallan Harmsen, Gianna Fanaro, and Daniella Fanaro; great granddaughter Briella Gahan; and brothers, David (Elizabeth) Kinnisten and Phillip Kinnisten. A private gathering will celebrate Michael's life.
