Michael I. Sorkin M.D. age 75, of Vernon Hills, IL, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Journey Care Hospice, Barrington, IL. He was born in Evansville, WI, September 8, 1940, son of the late Dr. Samuel and Hannah (Nee:Pessin) Sorkin.

Michael graduated from Evansville High School “Class of 1958” and went on to graduate from Northwestern University Medical School. He did his internship at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco and received his certificate in Nephrology. Michael served in the U.S. Air Force from 1967 – 1969 stationed as a flight surgeon in Vietnam and then in Las Vegas, where he worked with the Thunderbirds. Dr. Sorkin did his fellowship at San Antonio, TX and taught on the faculties at Pittsburgh, PA and Morgantown, WV. He retired as a consultant to Baxter and Abbott Pharmaceutical Companies. He authored several articles on clinical research and traveled Europe teaching the CAPD technique. When not working, Mike enjoyed sports cars, all electronic gadgets and in his earlier years he was a ham radio enthusiast. He will be dearly missed.

Surviving include his son, Samuel Leonard Sorkin of Buffalo Grove, IL and mother, Deborah Sorkin of Lake Bluff, IL; his sister, Sheila Sorkin of Milwaukee, WI; other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2016, 1:30 P.M. at the Allen-Meredith Funeral Home, 103 W. Main St. Evansville, WI with Rabbi Dena Feingold officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the funeral home 12:30 P.M. till time of service. Memorials to the Sam and Hannah Education Fund at Evansville High School have been suggested.
