Passed away at his home on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at the age of 80. Mike was born in Chicago, IL on July 30, 1938, the son of the late Samuel W. Aloisio and Edith Kirsten (Sorensen) Aloisio. He graduated from Steinmetz High School in Chicago, IL in 1955. At age 17 he commuted to Illinois Institute of Technology majoring in Physics. In 1961 he enrolled at Arizona State University in Tempe. He served his country in the United States Army in Panama during the Vietnam War Era. Following his discharge from the Army, he began working in computer programming for various companies in Chicago and Southwest Michigan. His working life was a means of living an enthusiastic life of fitness, recreation and sports, even dabbling in sustainable farming. While at ADF Accounting he met and married his former wife, Mary Lou and proudly became the stepfather of her three children. Mike deeply valued his family relationships and friendships and maintained them faithfully. He retired from Western Michigan University in 2000. In 2001, he was married to Vanita Bodnar. Together they enjoyed their retirement vacationing in Hilton Head, visiting family, planning bicycle tours and playing tennis. He is survived by his loving wife of eighteen years, Vanita Aloisio; five stepchildren, Laura (Juan) Ruelas, Mike (Kristen) Rice, Chip (Shannon) Rice, Janet (Tobin) Bannister and Lindsey (Aesa) Lesicki; twelve grandchildren; one brother, Richard Aloisio; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Aloisio; and dear cousin and friend, Ronald Miazga. Friends may visit with the family from 12 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
