Michael Angelo Zicarelli, “Mikey”, age 63, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at his residence after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, surrounded by family. He was born in Racine, October 21, 1954 to Michael and Rose (Nee: Seehafer) Zicarelli.

Mike graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1972”. He was employed by Marquette Distributing, then, he went to Rapids Beer/Domanik Sales as a Salesman. Next he went to Racine Grain as a semi driver. He later went to the Peltz Group, which became Waste Management for 13 years prior to his illness. Mike was a member of Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church. He enjoyed making people laugh, he loved a variety of cars, especially Cadillacs, and couldn’t go a day without Ice Cream. He was always willing to help others when needed, unless it was strenuous. Then he would supervise others doing the work from a lawn chair. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be missed immensely.

Surviving are his loving Wife of 18 years, Candace (Nee: Ackerman) Zicarelli; Mother, Rose Zicarelli, Children, Casey (Matt) Bremer, Ricky Zicarelli, Julie (Peter) Ortiz, Daniel Johnson, Adam Christensen, Sister, Patricia Hopkins (fiancé, Fred Vogt) and Brother, Ron (Dianna) Zicarelli. Mother-In-Law Bernice Ackerman, Brother-In-Law, Terry (Deb) Ackerman, Sister-In-Law Cindy (Ric) Weiss. Grandchildren, Coty (Tina) Ortiz, Anthony Ortiz, Jade Johnson, Emersyn Bremer, and Great Grandson, Parker Ortiz. An abundance of Nieces and Nephews who he loved very much and all his friends that he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael E. Zicarelli, father-in-law, Laurence E. Ackerman, Brother-In-Laws, Timothy Ackerman and Robert Hopkins, and Granddaughter, Gabriella Ortiz.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Tommy Porcaro for his special care of Mike. To Mike’s Kindred Health Angels: Melanie, Colleen, Deidre, Auburn and Annette. Also to Mike’s Allay Hospice Angels: Angie, Rachel, Chaplain Judson, Chaplain Nina, Rachel, Erin, and Bethany. A special thank you to Home Instead for the various caregivers who cared for Mike. All of you made an amazing difference in Mike’s life.

A memorial gathering will be held at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, 1700 S. Green Bay Rd, with Rev. Bill Mains officiating on Saturday, May 26, 2018. Visitation with the family will be from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm with a Memorial Service to follow at 12:00 pm. A celebration of Mike’s life will follow the service.

For those wishing to remember Mike in a special way, you may send Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Medical College of Wisconsin, or do a good deed on Mikey’s behalf.
