Maxine Van Stratton

Maxine F. Stratton, age 92, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017. Maxine was born in Kalamazoo on March 21, 1924, the daughter of the late Otto and Crystal (Barringer) Dieterman. She was a member of Greenwood Reformed Church and had been employed as Food Service Manager for Kalamazoo Public Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1984. On August 10, 1946, Maxine married John Van Stratton, who preceded her in death on May 31, 2001. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ardith O'Kelley. Surviving are three children, Michael (Cindy) Van Stratton, Paul (Glenda) Van Stratton and Rose Robinson; former son in-law, Kim Robinson; six grandchildren, Lisa (Kevin) Winer, Rachel (Kevin) Kirk, Chris Van Stratton, Jared Robinson, Jeff Van Stratton and Jason (Alicia) Robinson; great-grandchildren, Jake and Holly Winer and Parker and Bailey Robinson; her brother, Marvin (Carol) Dieterman; and a special niece, Julie Boulter. A funeral service will take place at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, c/o the funeral home.
