passed away Jul 20, 2016, at Bronson Commons, Mattawan, Michigan. She was born July 1, 1922 in Pennfield Township, Michigan to Wayne and Helen (Puffer) Packer. She was a 1939 graduate of Athens High School where she was voted the smartest and most beautiful student. She married Milo Skidmore on April 20, 1940 in Louisville, Kentucky. Maxine worked at Dancers Department Store in Vicksburg before going to work at the Simpson Paper Company. She worked at the paper company for 21 years as an accounting clerk retiring in 1984. After her retirement she went back to work part time at Gazelle Sports in Kalamazoo. In her younger years, Maxine was a Girl Scout Leader. Maxine was an avid runner and a member of the Kalamazoo Track Club. She began running at the age of 58 and ran until the age of 75, participating in many of the local races. Maxine will mostly be remembered for her delicious homemade pies, her thick shiny white hair and her superb taste of fine designer clothing. Maxine is preceded in death by her husband, Milo Skidmore who died in 2004 and her daughter, Tina Hayward who died in 2010. Also by her siblings Maxwell Packer, Juanita Loncaric, Mike Packer, Jean Peirce, Gloria Crawford and Pat Dyas. Surviving is her son, Eric Skidmore of Chugiak, Alaska. Son-in-law, Leon Hayward of Vicksburg. Two grandchildren Mark Hayward and Kim (Wayne Coville) Hayward. A celebration of life will be held on October 7, 2016.
