Maude "Louise" Pettit, age 96, of Allegan, MI (formerly of Watson Township and Kalamazoo) Louise passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at Briarwood Assisted Living in Allegan. She was born November 27, 1920 in Watson Township the daughter of George and Laura (Punches) Clawson. She attended country school until the 8th grade. After her mother's death when Louise was 14 she dropped out of school to help raise her younger siblings. Louise was very proud that she went back to school and graduated from Allegan High School Community Ed. For many years she and her husband had owned and operated a farm in Watson Township. Louise loved the Detroit Tigers and was a dedicated fan. In her spare time she enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, golfing and had been on several bowling leagues over the years. On March 14, 1942 in Otsego she married Robert Pettit who passed away in 2005. Together they enjoyed going north on hunting trips and fleeing the Michigan winters spending time in the Clermont, Florida area with their family. Louise loved her family and enjoyed her nieces and nephews as her children. Surviving are her brother-in-law, Beverly "Cobe" Coburn; 3 nieces, Judy Buelke-Sam, Jo Ann (Jim) Winkel and Teri Coburn; 2 nephews, Bob (Angie) Brown and Ken (Toni) Coburn; many great nieces and nephews and her friends at Royal Estates. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Ron Clawson, Elma Brown, Robert Clawson and Ruth Ann Coburn and nieces and nephews, Dick Brown, Janet Buist, Sandy Harnish and Dave Coburn. A private family service has been held. According to her wishes cremation followed. Burial of ashes will take place at Miner Cemetery in Watson Township.
