Mary Root passed to eternal life on June 9th, 2019. Mary was born on May 5th, 1934 to Nicholas and Cora Evans. Mary graduated from Paw Paw High School in 1951. She worked as secretary to the editor of Woodworking Digest in VanKampen Press in Wheaton, IL while her husband, Paul, attended Wheaton College. After Paul got his degree, she worked as a homemaker, taking care of her family. She was a very creative person, painting on anything that she could find and working in her garden or around the yard. Mary is survived by her husband, Paul, celebrating over 65 years of marriage; a daughter, Tina (Mark) Root of Muskegon; a son, Ron (Susan) Root of Plainwell; granddaughters, Jessica (Ryan) Coleman; Jocelyn (Paul) Bunce and Claire (Derek) Benson; four greatchildren, Alexandra, Matthew, Rory and Cora; a sister, Pat (Tom) Taylor; two brothers, Dave (Audrey) Evans, and Jim (MaryAnn) Evans; a sister-in-law, Linda Evans; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Floyd Evans. The family will meet friends and family on Friday, June 14, from 10 AM at Merson Church until time of services at 11 AM, with burial following in Covey Hill Cemetery, Pastor Alan Carson officiating.
