Mary Ruth (Miller) Thornberg, 71, passed away at W.F.M.C. on Monday, April 11, 2016. A lifetime resident of Racine, Mary was born on April 4, 1945 to George and Ruth (Stauss) Miller. She was united in marriage to Roger Thornburg on August 15, 1981.

Mary was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She was a past member of Kenosha Country Club, where she had a hole in one. She vacationed in AZ for many winters with Roger. She enjoyed an annual trip to New York City to spend times with friends she had since grade school. There she enjoyed the best Broadway plays and dined at great restaurants with her good friends.

She loved having them and being invited to parties. Mary especially enjoyed the parties of her good friends Richard and Robert. Mary also loved Christmas; she put up 8 trees a year with the help of her good friend Mary Lou. She was very generous at Christmas. She would beg for more ideas from everyone but it was hard to get her to tell you what she would like for Christmas. Mary was a member of a widows group which had creative members who found wonderful adventures to do together. Mary also loved to garden especially with flowers.

Mary was a loving sister to John (Mary Ann) Miller of Racine. She was a stepmom to Peggy Nyboe (Greg) and a grandma to Trisha Nyboe. She was a godmother to Jane Clope (David) and to Emma Stokman. She was a special aunt to Jenny (Tony) Stokman and Ryan Bird. She was a great aunt to Matthew and Emma Stokman and Norma and Andrew Bird. She was “mom” to her dog Angel. She will also be missed by many wonderful friends and great neighbors.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Roger, her mother Ruth, and her father George, her dogs Tiffany and Joy. She was also preceded in death by her in laws.
