Mary Cefalu, age 94, passed away on her birthday, Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Ridgewood Care Center. Mary was born in Racine, October 13, 1921, daughter of the late Ralph and Gabriella (Nee: DeFazio) Nicotera and was a lifelong Racine resident.

On November 30, 1946 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Joseph Cefalu who preceded her in death, December 13, 1988. In her early years, Mary was employed by Wheary Trunk and Willie’s Sentry. She was a longtime member of St. Lucy Catholic Church, Vittoria Colonna, Ladies of Columbus, and St. Jude. She will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and aunt.

She will be dearly missed by her children, James (Cyndi) Cefalu, Ralph (Paula) Cefalu, Kathryn (Daniel) Gobis; her grandchildren, James (Stacy) Cefalu, Gina (Gabriel) Tignino, Kim (Joe) Diaz, Kari (Jr.) Ortega, Alison Cefalu, Joseph Cefalu, Abby (Charles) Fry, Peter (Kelly) Gobis, Anjelica Gobis; her great-grandchildren, Charles, Ryne and Chase Cefalu, Gabriella and Giana Tignino, Lexie Handley; brothers and sister, Frank (Evelyn) Nicotera, Ralph Nicotera, Virginia (Thomas) Linden; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Vincent Daniel Gobis; sister and brother-in-law, Sylvia and William Quadracci; and sister-in-law, Margaret Nicotera.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, October 16, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Avenue. Entombment will follow at Calvary Garden Crypts. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M.
