Carnes, Mary 3/2/1928 - 10/27/2022 Allen, TX After a long, rich life, Mary Louise (Mary Lou) Carnes passed away peacefully on October 27, 2022 in Allen, Texas surrounded by the love and laughter of family. Born March 2, 1928 (age 94) in Kalamazoo, MI, Mary lived most of her life in the Kalamazoo/Galesburg/Battle Creek areas only recently spending her last few years with and near family in north Texas. A dedicated mother to 3 daughters and their children Lynnda (son Rob), Sue (daughter Kelly, son Matt) and Lorie - she spent her early years involved in a myriad of activities and hobbies that often included them and close family friends such as PTA and trailering groups that would last her lifetime. After moving to a small farm mid-life, her days were full of gardening, birdwatching, sewing, tending to a variety of animals and pets and an affinity for cooking, canning and putting up all sorts of fresh foods. She was a beloved volunteer and leader of several 4-H projects with a focus on horses which would be a life-long passion shared by all 3 of her children. That in turn had her working for the Co-operative Extension of Kalamazoo County. In her later years she spent many winters with her husband Morris (Bud who preceded her in death) in Florida belonging to a close-knit community of fellow travelers. The two of them traveled many places with friends and family always seeking new adventures and education. Most of all she will be fondly remembered as an amazing woman who inspired and encouraged with tremendous love, compassion and above all laughter. She gave us all so much. No services will be held at this time.
