Mary L. Brylowski, age 79, of Holland, MI passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at Appledorn Assisted Living in Holland. She was born March 27, 1937 in Orchard, IA the daughter of Wellington and Amy (Willey) Lewis. Mary graduated from Grinnell and received a Master's Degree in Education from Western Michigan University. For over 25 years she had been an elementary teacher at Otsego Public schools until her retirement. During that time she helped bring the Odyssey of the Mind program to Otsego and had served on the state board. Mary enjoyed being a member of the Global Volunteers and had traveled to many countries including Romania, China, Brazil, Spain, Portugal, Australia, Africa, Greenland, Poland and New Zealand. Surviving are her children, Amy Grout and her children, Abigail, William and Margaret; Phillip (Sara) Brylowski and their children, Catherine, Owen, Liam, Gavin and Eleanor; Andrew (Kim) Brylowski and their children, Jacob and Natalie and James (Jennifer) Brylowski and their children, Cameron and Kristen; brother, Robert (Ann) Lewis along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arthur in 1991 and brother, James Lewis. According to her wishes cremation has taken place. A private family burial will be held at Alamo Center Cemetery at a later time. Contributions in memory of Mary may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
