Green, Martha "Kay" Kalamazoo Age 88, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022. Kay was born in Alamo, Michigan on February 10, 1934, the daughter of the late Ernest J. and Martha R. (Kilgore) Loughead. She spent the early years of her childhood in Alamo where her dad owned a store and her mom taught school. The family eventually moved in town to Kalamazoo and Kay graduated from State High School. Kay played the violin in the Kalamazoo Junior Symphany Orchestra. She was very active in her church, Westwood Church of God, now Grace Harbor Church. There, she was instrumental in the development and growth of the church library, taught Sunday School and taped every service for shut-ins. Kay was an extremely kind and generous woman and was always willing to reach out to others and offer words of encouragement. On May 15, 1953, she was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Green, who preceded her in death on August 30, 2003. Kay was also preceded in death by her daughter, Kathleen Green; daughters in-law, Jamie and Peggy Green; brother, Bruce (Laura) Loughead and sister, Shirley (Paul) Lancia. She is survived by her children, Kelly Green and Paige (James, Jr.) Key; grandchildren, Lisa (Matt) Bowers, Jenny (Luke) VanderLugt, Joseph (Rachel) Green, Lindsey (Nick Christie) Green, Lisa Key, Jordan Key, Kevin Key, Chase Key, Codie Hawkins, Rachel Key and Tanner Hawkins and 13 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will take place at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow at East Cooper Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Monday, beginning at 12:00 PM.
